AIM | To enable participants to analyze medical information and health surveillance outputs in order to advise operational commanders and justify FHP measures in response to an outbreak. |
TRAINING AUDIENCE | The course is offered to Medical and CBRN personnel assigned to, or planned for, relevant positions at the strategic and operational levels of NATO Command or Force Structure. |
LEARNING OBJECTIVES | LO 1 Apply the principles of health surveillance and outbreak detection in NATO operations. LO 2 Use all available sources to confirm the outbreak by interpreting NATO MI2 and health surveillance outputs. LO 3 Effectively communicate relevant information about an outbreak, including plans to manage the outbreak, to several different stakeholders. LO 4 Present arguments justifying the course of action developed in response to an outbreak. |
PREREQUISITE | An E-learning package on ADL 366 NATO Health Surveillance Reporting is hosted on the NATO JADL platform. It provides familiarisation with the NATO health surveillance system and current reporting requirements. A successful attendance is mandatory for all participants in advance of the course. METHODOLOGY | Case studies, classroom presentations, group discussion work, and simulation exercises. |

ATTENDANCE | Participants are expected to attend all course activities as the intense programme does not allow for absences during the course. Late arrivals or early departures cannot be accepted. Certificate for successful completion shall not be awarded where absences are recorded. |
REGISTRATION | Mandatory online registration should be completed as soon as possible, but no later than 2 weeks prior to the course. The required minimum for course is 12 participants, with a maximum of 16 participants. |
COURSE FEE | For sponsoring nations: 310 Euros For non-sponsoring nations: 450 Euros All incurring costs, such as travel, accommodation, and meals, are to be borne by participants. This course is also available via the NATO ePRIME system; students from NATO partner nations can get reimbursed up to 100%. |
CANCELLATION | Cancellation of participation is only possible with 3-weeks’ notice before the start date of the course. The entire course fee is due if participation is cancelled within 3 weeks. |
