I-MED course in Tallinn, Estonia
The I-MED Course was organized together with the NATO Centre of Excellence for Military Medicine (NATO MILMED COE). The course was the very first Mobile Education and Training Team (METT) that took place after COVID-19 and included lectures, demonstrations and exercises, and hands-on training for participants that focused on treating patients involved in radiation exposure and/or contamination with a radioactive substance. The North Estonia Medical Centre Foundation and the Tallin Ambulance hosted this edition of the I-Med course. Four specialists from the Radiation Emergency Assistance Centre/Training Site located in the USA taught the I-MED.
At the end of the week, all participants looked back at a very interesting and useful course, including stimulating discussion and cooperation between members of several NATO member states.
The next iteration of the I-Med course will be from 1-5 August 2022 in Izmir, Turkey. And again in Estonia, in the city of Tartu, from 12 – 16 September 2022 (hosted by the Estonian Medical Academy).
For more information please contact NATO MILMED COE Training Branch Staff Officer LTC Jozef Schepers (train.eval@coemed.org) or Mr. Andrae Brooks (DOE/NNSA) at andrae.brooks@nnsa.doe.gov, also for registration for the upcoming I-Med courses.
